April 2015

Some very attractive nuns and a bevy of brazen tarts joined us this month. They perfectly illustrated David Duff’s talk on’ Will’ s Women: a nun , a tart and a dark lady’. At other WIs , members have been reluctant to play the part of the nun in ‘Measure For Measure’  but this time David observed that he had a whole convent to choose from. Our Mother Superior, Carol Sutton, gave a heart-rending performance as Isabella. Seductive in feathers, lace and suspenders, Joyce Peel took on the part of Cressida , or as the French say ‘une grande horizontale’, from ‘Troilus and Cressida’. Choosing the winning costume was no easy matter for David and he was clearly torn between Joyce Peel and Ann Robotham but in the end Ann prevailed with her slightly more outrageous display of stocking tops and suspenders.
