A reminder that the closing date for entries for the Scarecrow Competition, organised by Dave Martin, is Sunday 10 July and the scarecrows will be on display from Sunday 23 July until Saturday 6 Aug. There is no theme this year so anything goes. Dig out that outfit that wowed them at the Hunt Ball last autumn and put it on display, or find those flares from yesteryear still gracing your loft for the world to marvel at. After telling him of your intentions, you still have time before Sunday 23 for that flash of scarecrow inspiration which will see your name in lights at the Village Vegetable Show in the Mission Hall on Saturday 6 August. And don't forget to water those plants and spuds in a tub for other chances to win a much coveted certificate and a mention in the Newsletter.
