Here are some projects that the village has undertaken recently, mainly led by the Sutton Poyntz Society.
Defibrillator
The Society applied to the British Heart Foundation for a grant towards a defibrillator. It was installed in 2017 behind the Springhead Pub. It is checked monthly by volunteers who report its operational status to "The Circuit" - the countrywide defibrillator network. Every 5 years it needs new batteries and replacement electric pads, costing £150 last time.
If you call 999 about a friend or relative with chest pains, they will suggest you send someone to fetch the defibrillator as a precaution.
The nearby defibrillators can be found at:

Phone Box / Book Swap
The redundant BT Phone Box was purchased by the Society for £1 and re-purposed into a Book Swap and Visitor Information point. In other words, we installed some bookshelves and leaflet racks.
Food Bank donations
A box is left out beside the Phone Box every Sunday evening for donations of food items for the local Food Bank.
Other projects
Over the years, the Society has also been responsible for other projects, including:
- Purchase of the "top of the pond" land (formerly known as the Springhead Car Park);
- Landscaping of "Top of the Pond";
- Regular clearance and maintenance of the pond, verges, and trees;
- Supply and refurbishment of benches;
- Repairs to the village beacon;
- Replacement of Margaret's Seat.
