tonys logo 1 August 2023 - Phew! Shows, Picnics, Teas, Exhibitions, Markets and who knows what else...
The Veg Show was a welcome distraction from the miserable weather, and a good number of you came to vote for your favourites - and to watch Louie O'Leary and Sue Wintle taste the Victoria Sponges!  The (in)famous Spud-in-a-Tub competition was won by Duncan Sleightholme who beat his three daughters' efforts.  How dare he!

Cream Tea
Yes - information about a coming event - the Village Cream Teas!  Hoping for a beautiful summer's day to sit outside the Mission Hall and enjoy a splendid Dorset Cream Tea.  Now, is Dorset 'cream first' or 'jam first'?  It'll be held on August 19th, from 3-5pm and will cost you a measly £4.  Super value - especially as the socialising and chatting is free!

On behalf of the Mission Hall, thanks to everyone who braved the weather on Sunday at the village picnic, and especially those who prepared the excellent food that we all enjoyed, or otherwise contributed to making the event happen. In the end, the weather relented sufficiently to be able to have everyone out in the orchard, and we hope everyone who attended enjoyed a very good village social event.

The event has made a profit of about £480 for the Mission Hall, which will go into the Hall's Improvements Fund. We will be spending rather more than that very soon, on a building survey that will be done in a couple of weeks, in preparation for taking up a new Lease for the Hall. We hope that this Survey will give us a clear view of what the maintenance priorities should be over the next few years, and therefore show what is available for further improvement work.

Thanks again to the village for their support to the Mission Hall.
Bill Egerton
