logo19 December 2024 - Catching up

Just a few notes to tell you about some changes for the New Year and to close out the old year, reporting on some recent events.

Coffee Mornings - You will recall that Bill's recent Mission Hall newsletter explained all the work about to start and how the hall will be unavailable for a couple of months.  That means we've had to rethink regular events like the monthly socialising on the first Fridays.  Fortunately our friends at The Springhead have stepped up once again and offered to host us at the pub!  Aside from the location everything else remains the same: 10.30 start, first Friday of the month (i.e. January 3rd), and generously, still for the bargain price of £3!  What's more the hair-of-the-dog will also be available if you're still recovering from New Year's Eve parties!

While we're on the subject of coffee mornings, it's worth mentioning that the Pub's own charity morning at the end of November in aid of Fortuneswell Ward at DCH made almost £1100 thanks to your generous donations!

Christmas Card delivery scheme - what do they say "it seemed like a good idea at the time"?  The take-up was not huge (thank you both) so we'll probably not be doing it again next year.

Christmas Carols - if you  missed the Salvation Army at the Mission Hall last Monday, then just a reminder that St Andrew's has a service this evening at 6pm.

Foodbank - we've received the lovely letter below from the Littlemoor Foodbank, thanking us for our contribution throughout the year.  The collection box by the phonebox has been stuffed every weekend.  Let's make it overflow this pre-Christmas weekend - and not forget to do the same inbetween Christmas and New Year.

Happy Christmas from J & S!
