Dear Villagers of Sutton Poyntz,

Our duties for the Sutton Poyntz Victorian Street Fayre have sadly come to an end.

This was a great event that ran from 1994 to 2022. We were always very inclusive, and most villagers took part in some way. We raised a lot of money over the years and that in turn helped many local organisations and charities. I feel we ought to be proud as a village of all we have done.

I want to personally thank all the committee members over the years and of course all the villagers, family, friends who helped along the way. We had three chairmen over those years Dave Caddy, Guy Bridge and me. It was an honour to coordinate the event and I am sure Dave and Guy felt the same.

Many of you may be aware we had some funds left in the coffers in case the event was run again or resurrected by some willing volunteers. This has not happened, therefore as it was charity money, I felt we needed to disburse those funds. I engaged with the last full committee of the Fayre to decide where those remaining funds should go. We all voted, and the decision was made by majority to donate the funds towards:

  • a new bench by the pond, engraved to remember the Street Fayre
  • the Mission Hall Trust renovations
  • the Robert White Cancer Centre in Dorchester
  • the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society
  • the Stroke Unit at Dorset County Hospital.

All of these have helped villagers in the past hence those were the most popular choices picked by the committee.

Kind Regards

David Langridge, Sutton Poyntz Victorian Street Fayre Chairman 2018 - 2022
