16 October 2015 - Forthcoming events
Good evening (or whatever time of day it is as you read this),
Bill Egerton is planning a History Evening on Friday 23 October at which he will be showing slide pictures taken in and around the village by the late Freddie Litschi, who was devoted to Sutton Poyntz. It will be worth attending because not only are the pictures unique, but it is hoped that some of our longer standing residents will be able to put names, dates and locations to them, and in the process provide interesting and amusing anecdotes about some of the illustrated characters and events that were recorded in times past. The likely start time is 7.30 pm at the Mission Hall, so put the details in your diary to make sure you don't miss it.
The refurbished beacon has been re-installed in its rightful place on the hillside - full details to follow in the next Newsletter. With the addition of paper, kindling and firewood (and a naked flame) the inaugural lighting with will take place on Thursday 5 November between 7.30 and 8.00pm. Although there are no fireworks planned at the site, those on Weymouth Beach are due at 7.45 pm, so we should be able to enjoy them from a safe distance. Bring your own refreshments if you think you will need them, but no doubt many will prefer to retreat to the warmth of the Springhead afterwards. See you there.
