2 April 2017 - Coffee Morning this Friday & Advance notice Art Exhibition
Dear all,
This coming Friday, 7 April sees the first of a new and exciting venture - The Summer Coffee Mornings. They will bear a marked resemblance to the Winter Coffee Mornings, so they are guaranteed to be enjoyable. You are invited to come along to the Mission Hall between 10.30 am and noon to partake of freshly brewed tea (or coffee if you must), delicious homemade cake and stimulating conversation. The cost of these delights is a mere £2 per head. This first summer event has the added attraction of a visit by Simon Allison, our local first responder, who will be demonstrating the new community defibrillator and mannequin pack, and giving out video DVDs. Simon says that the equipment is very easy to use - basically press the ‘ON’ button and follow the voice or visual prompts. Later on he will be delivering half-hourly training sessions in the Mission Hall on Tuesday 11 April from 2 pm to 4.30 pm and again on Wednesday 26 April from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Sessions will commence on each half hour, and villagers are invited to choose a convenient 30 minute session to practice giving CPR and using the defibrillator trainer. Hopefully this will make everyone feel confident that they could respond effectively to assist family, neighbours and visitors if needed. And as this isn't enough for one Friday morning, there will also be the opportunity to view some aerial photographs of the village taken by drone. Now's your chance to see what your house looks like from the air, but more importantly to note where the open space in the village is located and the likely effect of any future proposed development. Unfortunately I' had made another arrangement for Friday, before the new Coffee Mornings were announced, but I'll be keeping all first Fridays in the month clear in the future.
Some advance notice about the Sutton Poyntz Friday Art Group Spring Exhibition to be held on Saturday 22 April and Sunday 23 April at the Mission Hall from 11 am to 4.30 pm each day. Entry is free, coffee and cakes are available and you are invited to vote for your favourite picture. Judy Backwell says "Following our previous successful exhibitions we welcome everyone to enjoy the chat, the coffee, the cake and the brilliant art work". If you went to those previous exhibitions you will know you are in for a treat, and if you didn't, then make sure you don't miss this one. I'll remind you a little nearer the day, but pencil it into your diary now.
Regards
Chris
