13 June 2017 - Which Way Forward For Sutton Poyntz? – You decide
Dear all,
Which Way Forward For Sutton Poyntz? – You decide
There will be an open public meeting at the Mission Hall on Saturday 24 June at 2.30pm to provide information on, and debate, whether
SUTTON POYNTZ SHOULD APPLY FOR PARISH COUNCIL STATUS.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council are currently holding a consultation period as they move towards becoming a Town Council under the unitary authority plans for Dorset, and there is an opportunity for Sutton Poyntz to consider how it would like to be managed in the future.
The speakers will be Councillor John Parker and Hilary Trevorah, Chairman and Chief Executive respectively of the Dorset Association of Town and Parish Councils and Councillor Ian Bruce from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
They will cover what a parish council does; possible outcomes to the changes underway; the implications of setting up a parish council and how the process would evolve.
At the end of the meeting there will be a public indicative vote, so it is really important that as many as possible attend to help reach a decision. All people living or working in the village are eligible to vote, the electorate being the same as that established for the Neighbourhood Plan.
This neighbourhood forum event is organised by the Sutton Poyntz Society. Light refreshments will be provided.
Please keep the date clear and make every effort to attend. The vital question is
Which Way Forward For Sutton Poyntz? – You decide
Best regards
Chris
