3 October 2017 - Coffee Mornings
Dear all,
Those of you that went along to the Coffee morning last Friday will know what a special occasion it was. The Macmillan charity obviously struck a chord widely, not only in Sutton Poyntz but throughout our local area, because the turn-out was enormous. With the donations at the door, the raffle and the sale of cakes Hilary tells me that the sum raised was in excess of £700! Hilary, her little helper (her words for her husband, not mine), the ladies in the kitchen and the many cake makers are to be congratulated on sending such a grand sum to such a good cause. During the morning I came across a little lad enjoying himself playing with one of the Macmillan balloons. Hopefully by the time he grows up research funded by such coffee mornings and more will have this awful disease on the retreat.
And while the force is with us, don't forget that the first of the regular Winter Coffee Mornings - always on the first Friday of the month - is this coming Friday, 6 October in the Mission hall between 10.30am and noon. A chance to banish the blues caused by the darkening evenings, lower temperatures and inclement weather with good conversation lubricated by coffee and delicious homemade cake. It only costs £2 per person, so I'll see you there?
Regards
Chris
