1 April 2018 - The Sutton Poyntz Committee needs YOU; Scout Jumble sale
Dear all
Sutton Poyntz Committee
The Sutton Poyntz Society was formed to promote the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the village and those who live in it, and has been well served by its elected committee members. However at the Annual General Meeting a number of the present Committee who have served diligently will be hanging up their boots - or pencils, or minutes or whatever figure of speech you would like to apply. At the same time lots of equally diligent residents are working hard on the Neighbourhood Forum. All this means that there are a number of vacancies on the SP Society Committee which may prove more difficult to fill than usual, and some fresh members are needed to step up to the plate (another Newsbite figure of speech). So can you help? The Committee meets on the second Wednesday of every month - though pressing reasons for absence are always accepted - in the Mission Hall between 7.30pm and 9pm to discuss matters in furtherance of the objectives of the Society.
These meetings are interesting, informative and have a great bearing on the present and future life of the village. It is, for instance, where the idea of a Neighbourhood Forum first surfaced. Some potential members are afraid that they will be asked to do more than they would wish, but this is not the case. All tasks are voluntary and you can do as much or as little as you like. So to slightly amend the words of the late, great Lord Kitchener, "YOUR VILLAGE NEEDS YOU". If you would like to serve the community in which you live and can spare a small amount of time each month then the Committee is the place for you. if you would like to know more contact Bill Egerton (832872), any committee member (telephone numbers on the Newsletter) or reply to this Newsbite.
Scout Jumble Sale
A reminder that the Weymouth East Scout & Guide Jumble Sale is to be held next Saturday, 7 April at 2pm in the Scutt Hall. Mo and Dave Martin will be grateful for donations of anything they can sell - clothes, bric-a-brac, books etc - to raise funds to maintain the Scutt Hall for the use of our local youngsters. Please contact Mo/Dave on 836322 if you have anything of use. On the other hand you may be looking for a bargain, in which case get along on Saturday for there are sure to be many to delight you.
Regards
Chris
