25 June 2018 - Street Fayre
Dear all,
What a magnificent day!!!
Many congratulations are due to Dave Langridge, his dedicated Village Fayre Committee and everyone who helped to make Sunday so special.
Dave says that he was overwhelmed by the community spirit shown by all those in Sutton Poyntz (and nearby) who pitched in to help. He has received lots of kind words from the many members of the public who attended. They were especially complimentary about the Victorian costumes that so many sported to add to the occasion, the quality of the entertainment/refreshments and the efforts made to keep the children amused. Many of the commercial enterprises were also asking if they would be needed next time, a sure measure of success! Thanks are also due to the Saunders family for the use of their garden, as the new location for the Pimms and Strawberries worked very well, and to Goadsby for all their assistance. At the post-Fayre fish 'n chip supper Dave announced that the gross takings (from which expenses will be deducted) were over £22,000. The major charity beneficiary this year will be the DCH appeal to house the new cancer radiography unit, and of course other local charities will also be supported.
So no apologies for repeating myself.
What a magnificent day.
Regards
Chris
