Margaret's Seat was originally put up on the hillside above Sutton Poyntz as a memorial to Margaret Hobson, who had loved the walks above the village. Its inscription consisted of the single word Margaret. In 2013, it suffered damage, probably pushed over by cattle, and the damage got worse with time. It was decided that a replacement should be put up - not a replica which might suffer the same damage, but a single cattle-proof stone. Agreement was obtained from Peter Broach, the landowner, and Mick Hobson, Margaret's widower, and donations were received from a number of sources, including the County Council and Mick Hobson. The new seat was obtained from Albion Stone, and installed with the help of Peter Broach. An "opening ceremony" was held at the seat on 9th August 2015, attended by villagers and members of Margaret's family.
In 2015, Nepal suffered a major earthquake. Richard Backwell, who had supported villages in Nepal for a number of years (via the Okhle Village Trust) ran a fund-raising lunch, at the Waterworks. From this and other events, a sum of £12,000 was raised.
