Two sets of audio recordings have been done in Sutton Poyntz, interviewing people who have lived in the village for a time - the recordings are available on the next two pages.
- In 2009, the Dorset AONB ran a project that it calls "Ridgeway Voices", as part of its "Ridgeway Heritage Project". The objective of this project was to record reminiscences of those who have lived for a long time in and around the Ridgeway area. The aim was partly to capture memories of times gone by (Oral History), and partly for the sake of recording the cadence of Dorset voices (Ridgeway Voices). Recordings of three of our villagers are available on the next page.

Then in spring 2017, the Windrose Rural Media Trust worked with a group of students from Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA, now Atlantic Academy Portland) to discover more about the South Dorset Ridgeway. Ridgeway Radio was an audio project which Windrose undertook with the then South Dorset Landscape Partnership (based on the AONB and funded by HLF). For more information about Windrose, visit their website https://windroseruralmedia.org/. With the permission of the Windrose Rural Media Trust as copyright holders, recordings of seven of our villagers are available on the third page here. Via an interactive map, Windrose’s Close Encounters media trail takes you to local towns and villages through audio recordings, archive films and still images - https://windroseruralmedia.org/close-encounters/ from where you can find these and many other fascinating recordings.
In 2009, members of the Sutton Poyntz History Group received training in the use of the recording equipment, and conducted a number of interviews with people with long memories of Sutton Poyntz. The recordings were sent on to the Ridgeway Heritage Project team, who identified notable short extracts and short stories.
