Dear friends,
Here, quicker than I expected, is our second EUpdate. I have been asked by Keith and Fiona Johnson to pass on the following, and am delighted to do so in a very good cause:
Johnson family Kenya trip. You are invited to an evening at the Mission Hall on Friday 30th January at 7.30 where Keith and Fiona will be giving an insight into their trip to Kenya as a family to help build a girls refuge for the Massai community. This is also a fund raiser for Bomet hostel for children with disabilities which is one of the projects they supported during their visit. The evening will be a pudding and photo night and all are welcome. Please let Keith and Fiona know if you intend to come by giving them a call on 833230 or by email onThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

29 December 2014 - EUpdate 1
Dear friends,
We have decided, in addition to the regular village Newsletter, to send out occasional email updates with local news. This is the first of our Sutton Poyntz EUpdates.
You will all, I hope, have seen the news about the village's purchase of the land at the top end of the pond, known generally as the "Springhead car park". We will be working over the next few months to try to get this part of the village into a good state so that it does not detract from the village's natural beauty. Nothing planned yet, but I'm sure that as the days lengthen and winter turns to spring, we will be asking for a team of volunteers to give the village, and this area in particular, a spring clean.
A few events for your diaries:
- History Evening - Wednesday, 21st January - 7.30 p.m. in the Mission Hall. A talk on Sir Thomas Buxton, who was MP for Weymouth and Melcombe Regis in the early 19th Century, founding Chairman of the RSPCA, and leading light in the anti-slavery movement. The Buxton family lived at Belfield House in Weymouth, and Buxton Road is named after him. Tickets £2.50, including wine, from Caroline Crisp (832529) or Bill Egerton (832872).
- Village Social Evening - Wednesday, 18th February - 7.30 p.m. in the Mission Hall. More news soon on what this event will be, but we are all in for a treat. Keep the date free in your diaries.
- Society AGM - Wednesday, 15th April.
A terrific turnout for the Carol Service last Monday, raising a record amount for the Salvation Army, whose band led our singing with the usual gusto. Well done, everyone. And huge thanks also to the Springhead for the village Christmas Meal on the 12th December.
Happy New Year, everyone.
Best wishes,
Bill Egerton
P.S. If you would prefer not to receive these updates, please send us a return email and we will take you off the mailing list.
