A message from John Newbould, concerning the RSPB Big Birdwatch which took place last weekend:

"If members of the Sutton Poyntz Society took part and sent in their data to the RSPB, it would be great to collect the data locally as well because otherwise it is never seen. Each person will receive a consolidated copy of our results and newsletter.  I attach the Word and Excel forms [N.B. not attached here] we use plus instructions for collecting bird data, which we do here on the last week of each month. Results should be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Best wishes,
John"

25 January 2023 - Neighbourhood Watch at Coffee Morning

Amanda Anderson, Neighbourhood Coordinator from Dorset Police, and one of our local Police Community Support Officers will be in attendance at the Mission Hall for the next coffee morning on Friday 3rd Feb 10.30am. They will be able to answer any questions that residents may have about Neighbourhood Watch and will also have a supply of literature regarding crime prevention etc.

If anyone is interested in joining the Sutton Poyntz Neighbourhood Watch scheme (FREE), they can come along on the day or contact Keith Raw who has recently taken over the Coordination roles from Peter Jones and Peter Riley - after many years' service, they have both decided to stand down. Thank you Peters!

12 January 2023 - Mission Hall

Dear All - Thank you everyone who attended the meeting on 8th December, the meeting was arranged to follow up on the excellent response to the local survey done to gather the opinions of Sutton Poyntz residents regarding the renewal of the Mission Hall lease.

The Mission Hall Committee  were pleased to see so many people attend and the discussions that took place offered useful insight into how we should proceed. It has to be said that the opinions expressed on the evening on key issues covered a very broad spectrum of opinion on how much modernising of the hall should be carried out.

That the Mission Hall should be retained as a resource for the village  was unanimously expressed. However some ideas on whether there could be a better deal than the existing lease were explored. The trustees are now in the process of finding the best way for us to proceed but the idea of trying to purchase the hall has been discounted as impractical.
