tonys logo3 January 2018 - YOUR VILLAGE – YOUR VIEWS – THE VILLAGE’S FUTURE
YOUR VILLAGE – YOUR VIEWS – THE VILLAGE’S FUTURE.

A reminder that the neighbourhood plan surveys should be returned by this Friday January 5th and that your views are really important to shape the future of Sutton Poyntz.  In addition to the surveys being left at either of the addresses on the  form, the Mission Hall has a coffee morning on Friday from 10.30am and surveys can be left with any member of the Sutton Poyntz Society or the Neighbourhood Planning Steering Group.  MAKE YOUR VIEWS HEARD.

If you cannot get to us and you need your forms collected please ring myself or Katrina on 01305568135  and that can be arranged.

Your help is appreciated; I hope to see you at the coffee morning.

 Many thanks
 Mike Blee

tonys logo2 January 2018 - Forthcoming events
Dear all,

A reminder of two forthcoming events.

The first Coffee Morning of the New Year is this coming Friday, 5 January 2018 in the Mission Hall between 10.30am and noon. Hopefully one of your New Year resolutions was to attend every Coffee Morning, and very wise too, with coffee/tea, delicious homemade cake, good company and sparkling conversation all on offer for just  £2 per person. Be there to find out what other people's resolutions were.

Then next Monday, 8 January is the first of the Sutton Poyntz Village W.I. 'Crafty Chatty Group' meetings between 10am and noon in the Mission Hall. These will be held each Monday morning from now on, and are open to everyone, not just W.I. Members. This is a chance to meet for a chat and refreshments, make new friends, and perhaps learn a new hobby - or pass on your expertise (for there are many very talented people in the village with a range of different skills) to someone else. It's only  £2 per session and who knows, with the skill you learn you could be the next winner of The Great British Knit Off! Please support this very welcome initiative.

Regards
Chris

tonys logo11 December 2017 - Coffee Morning and Neighbourhood Plan
Dear all,

A reminder that the Mission Hall Trust Carol Service will be next Monday, 18 December outside the Mission Hall at 6pm, accompanied by the Salvation Army Band.  Afterwards there will be refreshments - mince pies, mulled wine, tea, coffee in the Hall itself. The combination of the Salvation Army Brass Band and carols in the open air is always a lovely start to the festive season. Make sure you don't miss it.

The Neighbourhood Plan Team have just distributed two surveys to every house in the village. If you haven't received them and think that you should have (or you know of someone in that position), get in touch with Bill Egerton via the SP Website for further advice.

Regards
Chris

tonys logo11 December 2017 - Change of time for Carol Concert
Dear all,

I have just been informed that the Carols and Salvation Army Band on Monday 18 December at the Mission Hall will start at 6.30pm, NOT 6 pm. You can, of course, still arrive at 6pm but you will have to provide your own accompaniment for 30 minutes.

I have also been reminded that after the Carol Concert there will be baptism(s) in the Springhead - that's the pond, not the pub - to which all are invited.. I don't know whether these are unique but they are certainly a moving and spiritual occasion and well worth attending.

Have a happy Christmas, and may the New Year bring all you wish for you and yours

Chris

tonys logo2 December 2017 - Waterworks and Children in Need
Dear all,

Waterworks

Wessex Water are advising that major water main works are planned along Sutton Road and Preston Road early next year.

The work will take place between Preston Village Hall and the Sutton Road junction between Tuesday 2 January and Friday 2 February; there will be traffic lights and hence likely delays, but access will be maintained throughout. Work on Sutton Road will follow; the road will be open for most of the time, but the southern end will be closed overnight (10 pm to 6 am) from Monday 5 to Friday 11 February, and the road will be closed at the Puddledock Lane junction overnight from Monday 12 to Friday 16 February. Access to Verlands Road and Puddledock Lane will be maintained. The water supply will be as normal for most of the time, but when they have to interrupt the supply any affected households will get 48 hours notice.

It might be as well to mark these dates in your diary and allow extra time for your journeys in those periods.

If you are still unsure about the planned activities, there will be a drop-in session at the Scutt Hall on Thursday 14 December from 6.30pm to 8.30pm , where you will be able to obtain detailed information on how the work is being organised.

Children in Need

The recent Pop-up restaurant in the Mission Hall raised the magnificent total of £780 for the Children in Need Appeal. Jean, Hilary and Maureen would like to thank everyone who contributed to make this total possible, not forgetting those who came along on the day. More details in the next Newsletter.

 Regards
Chris

tonys logo27 November 2017 - Friday Coffee Morning
Dear all,

A reminder that there will be a Coffee Morning this coming Friday, 1 December in the Mission Hall between 10.30am and noon. In addition to the usual coffee/tea, delicious homemade cake, good company and sparkling conversation, there will also be an opportunity to catch up on progress made by our Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group. On display will be the Place Appraisal they have generated and two Survey documents. These are vitally important for the future of the village, so for just  £2 per person, what more could you ask?

Regards

Chris

tonys logo20 November 2017 - Children in Need Coffee Shop
Dear all,

I promised a reminder about the Pop-up Coffee and Soup Shop (or PuCaSS for short), which will taking place this coming Saturday, 25 November, in the Mission Hall.

It will be open between 10am and 4pm, with refreshments available all day, plus homemade soup and rolls (Balfey's Baking Street Irregulars have risen to the challenge yet again) for lunch between 12pm to 2pm.

Proceeds go to the BBC Children in Need Appeal, and Maureen and Hilary tell me they are hoping to raise even more than last year's total, which exceeded  a magnificent £900. Do drop in and help towards reaching the target while enjoying good food and good company.

So see you at PuCaSS before I nip home to watch Wales beat the All Blacks at rugby!

Regards
Chris

tonys logo19 November 2017 - Important Neighbourhood Plan News
Dear all,

The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has just issued Newsletter No. 4, which outlines progress over the last 6 months. It also describes a planned second, and much more detailed, canvassing of village opinion. This Newsletter has been distributed recently and is also available on the village website at http://suttonpoyntz.org.uk/neighbourhood
(follow the link in the paragraph titled "Latest News").

Then on Friday 1 December, a Place Appraisal will be published. This covers a number of topics

1.  A detailed description of how the village is today
2.  The development history that made it this way,
3.  A set of challenges and opportunities for the village to address in the near future,

This should be a really interesting read. In addition, two surveys are planned - a "Stage Two Survey" and a "Housing Needs Survey". The Stage Two Survey, seeking the village's opinion on a number of detailed topics, can be completed and returned by all individuals living or working in the Neighbourhood Are. Just one Housing Needs Survey is to be completed by each household, especially those households that in the next 5 years are likely to have housing needs (upsizing, downsizing etc). Both surveys will be delivered between Friday 1 December and Tuesday 5 December, for completion and return no later than Friday 5 January 2018.

All these documents will be rolled out at the Village Coffee Morning in the Mission Hall on Friday 1 December, 10.30 to 12 noon. You can view and borrow copies of the Place Appraisal, and it will also be available on the Village website.

The Surveys are a vitally important opportunity for everyone to express their wishes and needs for the village over the next 15 years. So do come along to the Coffee Morning to see all the work already performed by the hard working Steering Group, and make your contribution to the resulting Surveys.

Your Village is in YOUR hands

Regards
Chris
